Like I mentioned in a previous post, our little home (the first place we lived as a married couple) was broken into for a second time a couple of weeks ago, so we made the decision to move. While a home invasion (and loss of a few beloved electronics) is pretty awful, the silver lining is our new place. It's a gorgeous, open, two-bedroom apartment with loads of natural light on the top floor of a quirky 1920's apartment building in the ideal area of town. I was instantly sold on the black-and-white checkered floors in the kitchen, the airiness of the main living space, and the built-ins in every room. Could a girl ask for more?! I'd say no, but we'll also have a new roommate: my friend and partner in Atlanta adventures, Cesia. We're all really looking forward to the move (minus the dreaded packing/cleaning up of our old place), but I have to say one of the best parts will be decorating the glorious new place.
For the color scheme, I'm aiming for black, white, and gray, with natural touches throughout. I'd love to put together my first gallery wall to grace the walls of the living room. Since the light fixtures are few and far between, I plan to bring in quirky lamps that can add character and warmth. For a punch of color, I hope to fill the new space with plants (and actually keep them alive). The kitchen has few cabinets, but a large amount of open shelving, and it will be so fun to arrange and re-arrange our cookware to my heart's delight. To say I'm excited is obviously an understatement. Follow me on Pinterest for more home inspiration.
Now, for the hard work... Send coffee and boxes and all the good thoughts!
