I never intend to take a two-month break from this space, but it seems to happen. Most often, it's because I let silly things get in the way, but even so, I'm back again!
This ensemble has become a perfect early-fall uniform. Ever since I first laid eyes on the ubiquitous Alexa Chung for AG button-front miniskirt, I'd been searching for a similar style. If you've gotten familiar with me in even the slightest, you'll know I find a thrill in searching for items that give me the best bang for my buck. I scored this little ASOS number recently at Buffalo Exchange, where I also found this leather biker jacket last fall. The top (a vintage ballet wrap-sweater) and the booties (vintage Via Spiga) were also secondhand scores that I'd stowed away through the summer, and they've quickly become oft-worn pieces.
While style-on-the-internet and fashion blogging can be a breeding ground for unneeded competition and mental comparison games, I find the thrift hunt invigorates the situation for me. I care much less about a lack of collaborations or the inability to afford lusted-after designer goods when I actively seek out similar styles of similar quality for a much, much lower price tag. If you've been feeling down about your fashion game, for whatever reason, I highly suggest a quick Pinterest perusal for inspiration and then a trip to the thrift store. It works wonders.
